When I enquired about it (being close to Animal Reception at Heathrow is useful!) I was told it is basically because it is too easy to forge paperwork saying they are cb, and no real way to prove it.
This is the same story I got from American exporters - customs don't believe them. _________________ European Protected Species Licensing - Do you know enough?

Pete said it was Defra that said that they would not approve any paperwork for any of the leaftail species.
Ally you are right, it is an EEC ban, I misunderstood. But I know that wild caught specimens do slip through into Europe. Its very frustrating as these are my favourite reptiles ( more so than boigas!!!!! ), I would dearly love to keep, breed and study them. But then I know some are reducing in numbers and would never want to obtain species if it risked them being endangered. There are so many people keeping and breeding them in the USA though, lucky***s _________________ Cheers Angi
