I've just picked up my new Royal. The woman who has been feeding her said she missed her last feed. Apparently, the new mice that came in were black, rather than white, and she thinks this may have put her off. Anyone come across this before? _________________ )O( Freyja. /|\

I have the same problem with some of mine, will only eat white, no black, brown, black and white/brown or white mixes.

I've just gone out and got some white ones. I'll give her a few days peace and quiet, and see if she'll take one of those.
I know that my friend had a battle when she switched her Royal from mice to rats, but I didn't think that the colour would stop them feeding.
Fussy madam!! _________________ )O( Freyja. /|\

I doubt very much if colour really has anything to do with it, I would suspect it is more to do with smell.
I'm not saying different coloured mice smell different but different supplier's mice may smell different depending on the method used to kill the rodents prior to freezing etc _________________

I have used mice from the same bag from the same supplier and they have struck and eaten at the whites but not bothered with the blacks/browns(blacks/browns offered prior to whites). _________________ MORE THAN 2! |

I've also heard people complain their snakes had a preference for a certain color, some didn't want black ones, others white ones. Little racists Some snakes can get really fussy, others just grab anything that passes by.
Had a snake like that for a while, but it was a passing thing, they get hungry enough they'll usually get less fussy about color. |

If that's the case then I guess it must be a colour issue then _________________
