Just checking my new viv ready for the cresties arriving tomorrow and have found mould growing on top of the Eco-Earth !!!! Sad

Now having big panic. Its obviously too humid -but its been around 80-85%

Dismantling the viv to clean it off the branches, (also how should we clean those - we've got some"BeaClean" disinfectant designed for vivaruims or should we use a dilute bleach solution?) but should we get rid of all the Eco-Earth or just mix it all up and let it dry out a bit?

I have a large faunarium could I keep the cresties in that until it is sorted

I won't be able to get to the shops to get more Eco-Earth until Weds.

Any advice would be welcome please

No point in dismantleing the entire viv since it will mold again.. its part of seting up a humidt viv Wink spray it all down and leave the doors open it will clear up on its own no probs Cool

The mould won't hurt, but let the whole set up dry out a little. It's important to get the balance right. Too humid is worse than too dry (unless they rely on you spraying for drinking water).

Thanks guys

Emptied viv out, tried to squeeze more of the water out the coco and left it all open with the air con on all night seems to have dried out a bit! Will keep an eye on it and go easy on the misting till it settles (we have a water bowl in there for drinking)

Cheers, Carol
