As advised by the fire department, a wet/damp cloth to breathe through in a smoke filled room reduces the risk of damage to the lungs and increase the chances of survival.
Could they be wrong? |
Ask the same fire department whether they advise doing it in a non emergency. |
Tell me, how long can a snake stay under water without needing to surface for air and how long can we??? BIG difference |
Difference is not how long can you hold your breath for, its how the quality of air changes when it is sucked through a wet pillowcase, which will release damp fibres into your throat and lungs, and also the snakes. _________________ MORE THAN 2! |

Come on guys do we always have to slate people when their views are not the same as our own.
Can we not just accept that sometimes there may be different methods to that we are used to ourselves.
Let's make this forum a nice place and not one that everyone is scared to post comments on. People come here looking for advice form many people so they can make their own minds up based on public opinion not to see everyone slate each other. |
I fully agree Rizlah.
The damp pillow case method is a time tested and safe method. Has been used for decades, far more than the 4 decades that I have been keeping snakes. Soaking and manual sloughing can be far more stressful and potentially more damaging, especially for inexperienced keepers.
There are numerous methods, I prefer the tried and tested.
Cheers

hi everyone, took 5 mins from moving mums stuff to let you all know kya shed this morning. it was in one piece and complete. first shed with me although i have had her nearly 6 months, because of her non feeding. i soaked the insides of kitchen rolls and she lay in them at the warm end. must have been anough humidity to help with her shed. she looks so lovely. will bribe my daughter to get her camera out later and let you all see the difference. _________________

Ask the same fire department whether they advise doing it in a non emergency. |
No, you may be right on that one.
A bad shed isn't an emergency, nor is a retained eye cap or 2. So lets just leave our royals to their own devices, we can all sit back an see how long it takes for an infection to kick in. After all they dont need our help they'll be just fine in their natural plastic box, glass/wooden viv environment.
A little too sarcastic maybe? _________________ Life, my most precious possession! |

No, you knew exactly what context I meant it in, and that context had sod all to do with royals whatsoever.
Not sarcastic, just idiotic and tryin to prove a point. _________________ MORE THAN 2! |
