Whoopeee!

Finally after what seems like an aeon searching for some pygmy chams I hopefully will have a small group of them in 4 weeks time, captive bred as well! - hope I'm not gonna be let down!

So I'm now gonna start setting up the terrarium so I've got everything right for when they arrive.

Any other pygmy keepers out there let me know what you think any advice will be welcome.

An exo terra 30x30x30 while they are still babies so they can find food easily

A 50/50 substrate of potting soil or peat and fine orchid bark, then a layer of coconut fibre - between 3-4 inches

Then a layer of dead leaves and various sizes of small twigs and branches at various levels

1 ficus benjamina

1 ficus pumis(sp)

uvb 2.0 - I know some say they don't need it but it will help my plants- 12hrs on 12hrs off

A small basking spot at 78 F with the aim of a gradient down to 70 F during the day

Humidity aimed at 70% - 2 sprays a day

I'm pretty sure I have most things right let me know if otherwise!

III

ooooops forgot to mention my group will be 1 male 2 females

Great news, dont think you will need the basking light though, even the UV may give off to much heat Very Happy

that all sounds good to me! though i agree about there being no need for the heat equipment. I have my uv raised slightly from the mesh lid of the enclosure to ensure that the heat is not too much for the little guys. I think uv light is important though, well opinion varies but mine are far more active when its on. I have some eggs in incubation at the moment, so fingers crossed and there'll be a few more captive bred pygmy's out there soon. Smile

Fantastic news mate! They are great little chams, I just recently acquired some myself (and I actually managed to get some pics the other day, which I might just upload soon...watch this space). Setup sounds a good size for the babies...you have fruitflies cultured for them?
