Here's the link to that second paper Ron, if it doesn't work I can email you the pdf I haven't had a chance to read through the first one you gave yet, be there in a minute!
http://journals.cambridge.org/download.php?file=%2FSYS%2FS1477200007002290a.pdf&code=acc8b6b3dc187241417e3dfa463249ff
edit: It seems it doesn't place it with Pythonidae, but merely says it is more likely to be related closer to this family then to Boidae. It does however link Xenopeltis closely with the pipe snakes (Cylindrophis) and Loxocemus. No levels of significance were found to support Xenopeltis as a sister lineage to the Pythonidae-Loxocemus clade, which is why the hypothetical phylogenetic tree could be a little confusing as it places them there....if that makes sense _________________ Regards James Stroud |

An uneducated theory... I think unicolour are very closely related to loxocemus... You know, like mirrored evolution as both snakes are extremely similar, yet come from different ends of the earth. Just like chondros and ETB's.
Thanks for those interesting papers! I think they are more pythony than boaesque. |

Beautiful! I used to have a local wildcaught sunbeam snake too , called her Adol hahaha..2 days after I got her she laid 2 eggs but they didn't survive, poor things . Anyways for the duration I had Adol she was the gentlest snake I've ever known and really beautiful. But in the end I let her go back in the wild. I do however get to see sunbeam snakes crossing the road around my house area...bigger ones!! Feel like getting another one after seeing your pics... |
