[ My thinking therefore is leave her a couple of weeks and try again. If she takes then great. If not, reduce the photo period and the day time high hot spot temperature and introduce the male.

Remember, the breeding season lasts several months. For example, last year I cooled my animals in December, put them together January through April 30th and started getting clutches from May onwards. This is a round about way of saying you have plenty of time to get more weight on her before it's too late!

Best if luck,

Dave[/quote]

Thankyou Dave, and everyone else with helpful suggestions. Anyone else who can offer help, please join in. A pal has a couple of really nice Morph males to choose from so isn't it just typical that the lass is playing up.. Wink

Hi. I note that you say your temperatures are fine but what exactly are they? They should be somewhere about 92f - 94f in the warm hide and 82f - 84f cool end, providing belly heat. If you are trying to keep them feeding then keep this constant (i.e. don't drop the temperature at night).

If your female is a bit feisty, i would suggest that the being off food and feistiness may be a husbandry issue more than anything.

Hiya Bazzer, who is this Ruth ? Confused Yes Rolly told me that you were Bazzer, so hello again. Medusa, the female Royal, is still refusing to eat but is drinking and moving around a bit. She does seem to be very nervous and likes to be left alone. Have checked her temps, they are fine, and have decided that she does - hopefully - want to meet a nice chap....

My breeding partner is hoping to get a very posh new morph male, and so I am going to wait a while to see if the male does arrive. If for any reason he does not arrive, then there are a couple of other morphs to choose from for the girl.

Next year there should be several other girls up to size as they are now in the 600 - 800gram range, but for this year there is only the one. Crying or Very sad

Bye for now,
SUE

i would without any doubt try puting a male in with her. Sometimes once a female royal stops feeding, it is because she wants male company. The female can feed after she has had male company as well. She's a fine size, and has already had a feed in your care. I'd rather do it this way than attempt gerbils or mice etc. Hope all goes well with her. She might just not be hugry, in this instance there's little you can do but offer her. If she is wanting to breed, she should stuff herself afterwards. Smile

You are all being brilliant with your advice and help, thankyou. I have just put a young rat in with her, alive. I HATE doing this, but it is what she was used to with her previous owner. The rat ran into the hide and I heard a lot of scratching from the rat, and hissing from the snake... Then there was a huge BANG, and silence. Will leave alone in the dark room for half an hour and then go back to see what has happened. Medusa obviously struck the rat, but did she also eat..... Question

Photo attached is of her in her 50 litre Really Useful box.
