Took the family to Colchester zoo yesterday. We last visited there about two years ago when they were building the Komodo Dragon enclosure.
I have been looking forward to returning ever since.
Unfortunately, I was to be very disappointed. Although the enclosure is huge and impressive, I can't say the same for the Dragons.
Just one of the Dragons was visible and in a small enclosure at the side of the main enclosure, but the dragon itself was smaller than some of the Monitors I see in the local Reptile store.
I really expected some great hulking beast to be lumbering around the enclosure.
I guess i'll have to wait a couple more years before I return.
All that springs to mind as I type this is 'much ado about nothing'. _________________ 31August2008-Kent Reptile Show (Amphibians & Inverts welcome) for more information & Booking e:mail: mrac@sky.com |

What a letdown! I haven't been to Colchester Zoo yet, but I know they have been keeping komodos for a while now. _________________

yep I thought exactly the same, plus what a waste of money on that huge enclosure that they can't even use for a few years
here's some pics from inside looking out _________________

thats cage is really ugly, and dont blame the dragon for being small cos it will never grow big in there _________________ Good luck |

I was at toronga zoo in Sydney this summer and they had a huge komodo dragon. The only thing that i didn't like about it was that it decided to take a massive watery s*** while i was there and it smelt so bad i nearly puked. _________________ 0.0.2 Crested Geckos |
