Because you'd definitely be able to feel it!! I've been in a situation like that with a similar size snake and I have to admit it is uncomfortable when you don't know where the head is!!! 
Still there's no excuse for whinging like a little girl

Yeah but how could you 'know' it was a bad bite not just a painful one?
