At least that is what some people call them. They say they compete with native birds for nestholes.
but even though these two were indeed squabbling with some jackdaws over the hole in question there is no evidence they really negatively affect any species in the Netherlands.
And I like them, their noise and color brings a bit of the tropics the the cold lowlands

Excellent photo's.
There are large populations of these in south london/kent area. I was working at a school the other day that had a flock of around 50 of these that use there water tower for drinking, wished i had my camera with me. _________________ www.Reptilebreeder.co.uk

I used to see just 2 or 3 when I was a kid, near Petswood in Kent, their numbers certainly have exploded. _________________

My brother gets them in the trees behind his garden, he lives nr Bexleyheath/Welling. Also used to see a few in the beer garden of a pub in Croydon, although they ring around they're necks was more of a thick gold band with a 'clahn' pattern on the breast. _________________ 31August2008-Kent Reptile Show (Amphibians & Inverts welcome) for more information & Booking e:mail: mrac@sky.com |
