Well, as promised, i've finally gotten round to uploading the invertebrate photos from my Borneo trip! There are a couple of crab photos from Thailand, but everything else was in Borneo. I eventually got into the habit of taking my camera to the toilet/shower block with me...there seemed to be something new lurking in there every time!
Well, i'm not even going to attempt with identification of these dudes...common names I can deal with, but i'm afraid that the latin for these eludes me
A tiger leech - who promptly latched onto my camera lens in a desperate attempt to get to me....ickkk.
A leaf grasshopper
Very pretty butterfly - note toilet/shower block in the background
A male leaf insect - not sure about species
A large, green praying mantis
A weird, bloated leafy thing
Pillbug
Dead leaf grasshopper
Pillbug
Now, this little fella is possibly the coolest insect we came across on the trip...known as a flatid planthopper.
A pair of mating leeches...
Rhinoceros Beetle! This guy was a proper beastie.
A green cicada, on a moth trapping exercise. However, 2 days before full moon, so we didn't find much...
An interesting moth from trapping
An antlion! Ugly little buggers...
Land hermit crab! So cute.
And a rather strange crab with odd eyes...
So there we are...the best of my invertebrate photos (or even if the photos aren't good, just an example of the cool inverts we came across!)
Hope you enjoyed them! _________________ Sophie

Thank you! I did love that pillbug, so perfectly round when they roll up! And yes, the planthopper is very cool - they have a very powerful jump, then just gently float down to the ground (or the nearest plant )
I was very lucky not to get got by leeches (not that I know of anyway!), I always did my leech socks up super tight...
