Morning all Smile
I think my gargoyles may have been mating in the past week(I realize its out of season) or so, they have been very vocal at night and such! However I don't know how to tell when the females are gravid! Is it just like Leo's where you can see the eggs in the stomach? The Appetites have increased as well which I know is also a sign!
Cheers

Unfortunately it's not as easy to tell if a gargoyle is gravid as it is for a leopard. Usually you can expect the first clutch of two eggs will be laid around 4 weeks after mating. Subsequent clutches will arrive at 4 -6 weeks intervals. It is difficult to tell if a gargoyle is gravid or not, until the time comes for her to lay. At that point the shape of the eggs can be seen clearly (from observing them they appear to swell very quickly, just before laying). Gargoyles do not have translucent skin - in fact most have patterned tummies - so it is difficult to actually see the eggs developing. Looking at the behaviour of the female is more of an indicator that they are ready to lay. Their interest in food drops off dramatically (feeding roughly once a week, as opposed to every other day). Another indication is their digging of ‘tester’ laying sites until they find one they are happy with.
