So a few nights ago I was woke up by my gargs making barking noises! Went over to look and the male had the females tail in his mouth! He wasn't trying to eat it, he was just sat there with it in his mouth with her biting his head and barking at him! Anyway this is pretty normal so I went back to sleep but the next day i saw white smear down the log! Also around the vent of the female is like a big white blodge!
Anyway I'm really not sure what it is? Could it be a wound or something to do with mating or just some dried urate?
thanks

If the female didn't lose her tail then possibly it was all to do with mating. I have found gargoyles are real tail biters and are more than happy to eat cage mates tails. Only way round this it to keep them totally seperate(...so that's breeding out the window Laughing ) or keep them always really well fed (but again fat gargs are too good for breeding too). It's a delicate balance compared to keeping cresteds.

Or do what I do and only introduce them for breeding purposes. I do agree with Scott in that it does sound like normal mating noises.
