I'll start randomly like I did last year Embarassed I have to say that overall I didn't follow any rules or procedures last season. I had the heat on 24hrs for a few days then no heat for a few days, lights on, lights off. The cycle was all over the place....no set pattern really.

Overall YES there were lower temps during the cycle but nothing religious compared to many breeders.

THANKYOU for posting this Scott, so many books etc., make breeding Royals sound like rocket science and I have been getting worried. Embarassed Knowing that you had great success this year with a more relaxed regime has helped me to relax a bit about it. I have bred several species of snakes without too much trouble, but it will be a first for Royals - only have one female up to weight this year but hope for several more to make the weight next year.

I went down that road, worried and asked hundreds of Qs about everything andr ead and re-read everything. BUT it worked for me, will probably do same this year but hopefully without the worry.

No worries, too many people get wrapped up in the idea that EVERYTHING must be done in a certain way etc These are animals not machines so there are far more varibles involved than just A = B = C etc

Yeah good point.

Our first breeding was successful without even adjusting the temperature's, haha

But, unfortunately, some female's are meant to reabsorb their follicles if the temperature's remain summer temperature's throughout the season.

Anyway, I wouldn't religiously worry over the night time drops. All we're going to do is put our stats on timer's and they'll all knock off for so many hours each night, and keep our room temperature about 80F. Smile

This is my first time for breeding and only have one female ready for this year but I have two males.
Would I be wise to put both males against the female (one at a time) just in case one of the males is a jaffer

many ppl do use more than one male , also called cycling the males ! (insert image of royal on bike ! ) only gets tricky when you say are using two diff' male morphs....who's the daddy ? unknown till hatching .

at the moment we only have one female almost up to weight...few more grams needed on her...so looks like we will not be religious in our approach either ...probs try hooking them up around Mar/April ...mid to late breeding season. in a controlled environment ...YOU set the parameters...not nature. good luck all with their projects this coming season.
