Hi there, not much knowledge in the way of genetics, what would happen if you breeded from a 100% albino royal male and a 100% het piebald female???

Thanks 4 the replies.

het albino x het pied

25% normal
25% het albino
25% het pied
25% het pied and het albino

Albino x het pied

50% het albino
50% het pied and het albino

Not sure if you were asking for a albino or 100% het so doen both, think thats right

Am I correct in thinking that all of the babies would look normal whilst being 100% het for albino. Half of them would also be het for Pied but how to tell which ones ? Sad You would need to do quite a bit of work breeding back to parents / siblings to get an Albino / Pied.

If I am wrong just say. Wink

Easiest way to tell would be by visual Albino to visual Pied breeding, all offspring would be het for both traits, breed two of these together for Albino Pied or breed a male back to its mother to get Visual (same as mother) het other trait then breed two of those together.

Hi
I thought about going down this road, but even if you have both visual pied and albino and produced all double hets for pied/albino, you still have only 1 in 16 eggs of a chance to get a albino/pied.
So if the pied is het pied then (anybody good at maths) Embarassed

If you have the patience and the odds are in your favour then it would be a brilliant long term project.

You would have more of a chance if u kept back all of the females and one or 2 males{if u do visual x visual i mean]
and then breed them male to all the females so ur lkely to hit that 1 in 16 odds.

The albino pieds have a lovey orange colour!

Another problem here - sorry - is that most breeders seem very reluctant to sell a het Piebald female on her own, they insist on selling them in pairs and keeping any spare females for themselves. I have been looking to get a 100% het piebald female on her own, but so far no joy.
