I am a new member who is not used to computers! Can anyone help identify my pair of dwarf retics please? I would like to know exactly which type they are. They are just over 6ft and have been about that size for 2 years so I dont expect them to grow much more. The first animal pictured is the female, the second the male. I am very pleased to join and hope one of you experts will be able to identify them for me as the previous owner knew nothing of their ancestry. Thanks. Right, I cant attach the pictures cos apparently they are too big! I have already managed to post them to Stuart so I will try and persuade him to post them in. I told you I`m not much good with computers! Bye for now

I dont suppose you have any more photos?

Distinguishing between dwarf races is far from an exact science. Unless the original owner turns up all you can hope for is a best guess i'm afraid

Thanks for the reply Dan, Yeah plenty more pictures but cos I am such a thicko when it comes to computers I cant send any to the forum until I learn how to "resize" (sounds like a type of plastic surgery) and when I have done I will do , thats a promise. I really would like to identify them properly. I am still working on the previous owner route for information but the animals seem to have changed hands more than once and I have drawn a blank so far. Now I have them though, they will be stopping with me. Saw them first 2 1/2 years back but finally got to own them last week.

I wouldn’t say they are Super Dwarfs but I could be wrong.

After a bit of detective work and relying totally on third or fourth hand , chinese whisper type information, it looks like leaning towards them being Jampeas. Opinions welcome

I will sort the photo's you sent me out shortly so others can have a look and form an opinion.

From what i can see in the pics you have sent me i would say the male is a jampea and the female a kayuadi.

I have based this on both the pattern and colour formation aswell as the size.
Jampeas are bigger animals than kayuadis with female jampeas reaching 12 feet with ease (up to 15 feet isnt uncommon) as females and around 8-10 as males. This of course is for CB animals and can be reduced by up to 5 feet for females and 3 for males - in my limited experience.

So a male jampea would in theory be the same size (roughly) as a female kayuadi.

Thank you Dan. Right, just to complicate things EVEN further, ( and entirely my fault for being so inept with computers )in my original post I said that the first animal pictured was the female and the second was the male. Being a technaphobe, it was actually Stuart who very kindly posted the pics, and they appeared in the opposite order. So, to clarify, the animal on the blue background (smaller and darker of the two) is the MALE (Kayuadi, you think) and the animal in the hand (larger and lighter coloured of the two) is the FEMALE (Possibly Jampea). Right! Hopefully got that right at last! So if that is the case I am in search of a legitimate source of a female Kayuadi AND a male Jampea. A tall order but can anyone help? I have plenty of viv space. Whether or not they are "super dwarves" I don`t know but they are definately super snakes. Really grateful for your help Dan, and don`t worry, I intend to keep them as pure as possible.
