well u know me cant hurt to know as much as possible!
i saw the washing of females on the Sutherlands DVD, so was not sure if Ralphy and others also did that.
I hope to get my first eggs this year if all goes well, the male is producing sperm, the females nearly 1800g so I hope that should be ok! so u say its better 3 on and 3 off? well i will change to that! see if thats ok, last year he tried but someone was obviously not ready! so hopefully this year!
They will just be normals but to me they will be soo precious!! _________________ 1.0 striped supersalmon DEAD

Start introducing male to female around 1st October. Introducing a newly shed skin from another female can also help, but to get the male really interested, the introduction of a second male for a short time could be the answer - make sure that it isn't the second male that get to the female first!!
During the 3 on/3 off period, offer the male a small prey item. If he eats, he has 2 days rest before 'going to work' again. _________________ If you don't know, ask! |

I had a nice season last year, but as you go through all the steps, cooling checking for follicles & cycling etc. The the wait for eggs...
I found a site that really helped me understand the whole process & watch for signs. In case you would like to see what (IMHO) is one of the best descriptions out there here it is:

Best wishes on your first season! -Deb _________________ All the Best- Deb

I was looking through old threads about Royals and came upon this one. WOW guys, what a difference almost a year has made Now the ones answering the questions are the ones that were asking last year Going to save this thread as there is so much helpful information on it. If there are any new tips for us new Royal keepers, please add them. Thanks

Do you alter photoperiods or leave natural light entering the room as your photoperiod?
What ambient background room temps do you try to maintain?
What day time basking temp do you give? Natural
What night time basking temp do you give? (if any?) Don't no.
Do you continue to offer food? Yes
How long do you maintain this cycle for? Cycle takes care of it's self.
How long do you leave the male in with the female? 1 day
How many females do you let the male mate with? As many as he's willing.
When do you actually start this cycle? As above on cycles.
Not much science to anything I do, I just let everything happen on it's own. _________________ www.unusualalbinosnakes.com |
