I've been back from my hols for a week now and have finally sorted through some images to upload. I went to Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands for two weeks. It was fantastic. During our visit we went to the zoo on the island (Oasis Park). Here are some of the animals we saw:

Blue Bellied Roller

Giraffe

Flamingo

Porcupine

Cabybara group (always wanted to see one in the flesh so I know how big they really are)

Crocodiles

Hippo family - we were watching them for about 30 minutes. The baby was only a few months old.

Mongoose

Cuvier's gazelle

Aligators

Sea Lion

And a couple of images taken in our resort:

The next image was a happy accident, I was actually trying to take a photo of a lizard but it was too quick for me. However, I did capture these instead (no idea what they are though).

Dragonfly

Hoopoe

Thanks for looking. I do have a lot more but thought I wouldn't bore you all too much.

Not a bad photographer are you Jackie Very Happy
The Cabybara are great, like huge guinea pigs, and what's the deal with the gazelle's horns being drainpiped up? Laughing

Thanks everyone. I must admit I was very taken to the Blue Roller - he was lovely, like a jazzy Kookaburra.

Karen, the hippos were great. The mother spotted that we were taking photos of her baby and she tried to hide him from us.

The Hoopoe came every morning to the grassed area behind our apartment. I've taken about another 15 photos of him! My Dad was jealous as he's never seen one in the flesh.

Phil1988 - He was the only one with lagging on his horns. Our theory was that either he was incredibly stupid and he kept bumping into things, or he was too rough and was injuring the others. The only snag with the park was that any additional information sheets (i.e. the individual animal's information. age, sex, etc) were all in Spanish. They only had basic information in English.

Aidan - I use a Sony DSC H2.
