Another beauty.
How far away is the camera for a close-up like that?

Thanks
for that one it was about 8-12"
I wanted to get another shot of him as he recently shed and he was due feeding which is when he is most alert so figured I could more easily get him going in the direction i wanted with less prompting

Very nice Paul..first is by far my favourite of that group..very nice and crisp.. Cool I know you use an external flash (i think)..I only use the on board speedlight but find it to harsh tbh.was going to get a sb800 but very seldom feel the need for a flash..prefer to use natural light or minimal fill in.

That's a good tip.
I blue-tacked a piece of tissue over the built-in flash on my compact camera and got much better close-ups.

Your latest pics are great.

yep its great john long before I got an external flash I had laccy bands and bog roll in the camera bag instead which is good but the recycle time is anoying and the macro lens allows me to get close and the on board flash casts a shadow when this close

I took a few shots today but ive a feeling they will all be rather poor but if any are anygood I shall post some up but just got in and left at 8am so im knackerd for tonight
