Hi there, ive just built my first vivarium. Its 4x2x2 (foot). Added the vents etc now im a bit confsued with the glass, what kind of runners should I use for a sliding glass door? Would the plastic strips be ok? Is glass reletively cheap to be cut to size? How can I attach a lock and handles onto the glass?
Thanks |

Right, you can get glass runners from most BIG hardware stores or alternatively of eBay.

It depends on what sort of glass your after. Standard 4mm glass will be quite cheap whereas toughened thicker glass wil be more expensive!

Again, reptile shops or eBay!
Hope this helps a bit!

Whats there to be confused about.

go on to eBay and search for a member called Viv builder. he sells everything you need if i was you i would get 4mm channel runners it just means the glass needed will be thinner and therefore cheaper.

If you already have the glass then it really is cheap. a tenner at the most i would say. if you don't have the glass then it can be come more expensive to what could be a good idea is to see if you know anyone throwing away a greenhouse and ask for there old glass clean up and then get it cut

EBay it all Viv builder do sell handles I'm not sure about locks but locks can be bought of eBay or most reptile pet shop. The handles just stick on if you get the correct ones from Viva builder. i don't bother with the handles as i can open the door fine with our them but it does give the tank a nice finish
hope that's cleared up any problems you may have

I tried all the big hardware shops and they only did the plastic runners, would these be OK?
And I cant find the member Viv Builder on eBay I tried looking on the community and everything but still no luck, does anyone have a link for me??
Would it be necessary to get toughened glass for 3 geckos or stick with standard 4mm glass?
Thanks again, Manny |

Thanks Aidan that's a great help, I have actually been on this site but did not look around properly! Will definitely be getting the runners, lock and handles. The ceramic light fitting and light guard seem pretty expensive though!

Really ? They dont require heat bulbs? Ive just purchased 2 60 watt red reflector lamps, was this a bad idea? |
