hi, i hope someone can help me i brought a blazing blizard at the herts show last sunday and it hasnt eaten since ive got it back apart from once off of tweezers but is nice and plump.
i think it might be something to do with the housing but ive followed hatchling housing guides so i was hoping that people could tell me how they house their hatchling geckos?
heres what it is in and hopefully theres a reason as to why they arent eating...
its in a plastic tub (sort of a cheaper version of the really useful boxes)
water bowl
toilet roll for hides
on kitchen roll as substrate
and on a heat mat which is half across the tub

thanx in advance stu

Let him settle in and make sure when feeding him you are either dead quiet or not in the room at all and then check on him after an hour or so.
maybe leave some meal worms in a pot and make sure you know how many meal worms there are to start with to see if he has taken any.
and don't overload him crickets just offer one or two.
Very Happy

I have a male leo that goes through phases of months eating perhaps one or two roaches, he never gets too thin. I think a little known fact about leo's and geckos is that they don't eat like clockwork all the time.

Because of the way most animals and pets are we tend to worry when they don't eat their three square meals a day.

Just remember they are different in their feeding habits and have their own natural cycle of when the eatings good and when it shouldn't be.

When I buy a new gecko I dont even think about feeding if for the first 5-7 days.
Geckos dont like change, when I clean out a geckos viv (ie.. sand change etc) I dont bother feeding them for upto a week after because they will properly be off their food.

Apart from changes most problems can be traced back to incorrect temperatures and/or humidity.

The temperatures at the 'hot' end should be 88-90 inside the hide.

Do not touch or disturb the gecko for any reason apart from changing the water and feeding for a few weeks.

Whatever type of insect you decide to feed it, count them as you put them in (I usually put in 5) leave the gecko alone for 2 days then check if any have been eaten. Did you ask what the breeder had been feeding it on ? Crickets or mealworms ?
