Hey people.

My little crestie is now starting to grow at 5 months old.

I want to start feeding him/her little crickets so I went and got tiny ones today.

Ive given them water in a bowl full of cotton wool and some lettuce.

I assume that I also need to dust them or gut load them with something?

What do people use/recommend I use to do this?

Thanks,

Darren

Personally, I use a pre-made high calcium gut load and fishfood (to which I add soe extra vits and calcium). For water, I would just use cottonwool in a bottle top, or they may fill up on lettuce (which has no value). Smile

I then dust with calcium or a mulitvit or nothing depending on the day.
Calcium three times a week (for one of 5 months), and multi vit once a week.

In the past i've always gut loaded crix with romaine lettuce as its packed with vitamins.

Additionaly I dust them with nutrabol powder once a week, but thats personal prefence.

I believe Romaine is somewhat an exception? I haven't looked into the details of lettuce cultivar nutrition Laughing

we use chinese leaf or coz lettuce in work and gut load with fish food and added vitts. It doesnt matter that the lettuce has no nutritional value as it is just adding the water to the crickets diet, as its better and easier to control than water or cotton wool. Depending on how big the crickets are, small pieces of orange work well too.

Cheers for the replies.

When you say you use fish food do you mean the dried stuff, and you put this in with the crickets in its dry form or do you make it into a paste with vits?

Cheers,

Darren

I fed my crestie some crickets last night and OMG did she respond!!!

Ive never seen her move so fast.

I used to love watching my Leo stalking the crickets and cresties are just as much fun if not more to watch.

Cheers for the cricket loading help
