hi can hatchlings be kept on anything other than paper towel or newspaper? its just that the crickets hide under it and the geckos arent catching them so is there a safe substrate to use with leopard gecko hatchlings?

You could try tiles or that stuff that is flooring but it comes on a roll and is sort of plastic/rubbery (I can't think of the name at all)

Why would you want to use lino ??????

For what reason ?

What is the purpose of using it ?

If you use a heat mat, all the lino will do is stop the heat getting through slightly and possibly heat up any adhesive and create fumes ..... Total waste of time and effort using lino.

If you are worried about using sand (I've used sand for 100's and 100's of hatchlings for over 30 years and never lost one) don't use anything, just a bare bottom.

As usual someone who has kept a few geckos for a year or two and read a book thinks that they know it all but all they are is an instant add water internet expert.

I dont think I will be posting anymore on the forums, I'm getting fed up with all the 'experts' Crying or Very sad
