|
|
Hi all.
I have the large IKEA Komplement boxes in a rack which works great, apart from the fact that I have to really disturb the animals when i want to look at them. (By opening a tight fitting rack).
I would like to put a big vision panel in the tubs but I havent got a clue how to do that. Can any of you tell me the best way?#
Alternatively if any of you are near Kent I will pay to have it done
This would make my life a lot easier!!
Many Thanks

Gary,
get some clear acrylic cut to fit 1" over the size viewing panel you want.
Once that's cut, mark out you Ikea tub, making sure to allow for the over lap.
Cut the tub by first drilling the corners, then using a jigsaw to do around your marker line.
Pre-drill the clear acrylic panels in the four corners and two in the middle (around the edge!), then hold it against the hole and mark the position for the bolts. Drill out these marked holes and then bold the viewing panel to the ikea tub using PLASTIC number plate bolts, cut off the excess plastic bolt once finsihed.

Yeah that looks GREAT. EXACTLY what I need. So afraid to bodge it up though!!
Do you have a link to those white window frames?
Think I will need to find someone who isnt afraid to try!
I actually have my tubs in the rack the other way round so i would need a vision panel down the loooooong side (or 2 if you cant get longer frames!
Thanks

I have put vision panels on all my Komplements noiw, but did it a different way.
Cut holes in the front with a soldering iron (melted the cuts)
Brought photo frames from a cheap high street shop at £1 each (had already sourced them and cut the hole sizes accordingly)
The glass is silliconed into place and the whole frame screwed to the front of the box (from the inside of course so nothing sharp).
DEFINATELY glad I did it, can actually see my snakes now
