Father Christams has bought a couple of leopard geckos to our house over Christmas, they are eating rather a lot of crickets which are quite difficult to get where we live without treking a distance at the weekends, is there any way we can either breed them or keep them for longish periods.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Happy New year to everyone

Are you gutloading/watering/feeding them, as they will last for weeks...
also, www.livefood.co.uk
bulkbags are really good value.
I wouldn't bother breeding them as you may end up over-producing, unless you have a large collection. |

It is no problem at all to keep crickets for 3 - 4 weeks if you follow a few rules.
1) fresh water.....Shallow dishes only, I use peanut butter jar lids in all my cricket containers. Water must be changed EVERY day
2) Food...crickets need food too you know !!!!! You should be gut loading them anyway. I use either fishflake food or pond pellets ( cheap cereal based )
3 Space.....as much as you can give them, crickets DO NOT survive very well or long if crowded. Lots of egg carton, lots an lots
I keep my crickets at room temperature, I tried heating them but found that they grew too fast

As Serpent say's they are very easy to keep. Although for extended periods I would recommend putting a heat pad in there so the can raise their temps a little.
I feed my non breeders on wholemeal bread and place half an orange in for their water needs, this saves losing any to drowning or messing about with fresh water for them.
You could also use mealworms, these can be kept cool for weeks, then just warm up a weeks worth at a time and gut load them with veg scraps and dog biscuit for at least 3 days before you use them. _________________
