MJ I have 4 cumingi - 2 males and 2 females - one gravid, the other about to lay her first clutch (infertile for definite). I also have a pair of horni. the largest cumingi is 175cm - the one in the photo - the big male horni is about 160cm ..
Andy - top 5 ????? top 1 you bugger !! still your loss has been my gain - I'll post some pics of bruce - your original cumingi - he's not grown much in size but looks awesome.

on the whole they are nott too bad to handle - certainly no worse than any other 5ft plus lizard !!! .. the two males have great temperaments .. the big one is coming round to my way of thinking, the smaller - bruce (4.5ft) is perfect .. I let him wander round the downstairs of the house (he's got pride of place in the dining room).
The only thing is that if they are not in the mood for handling, then you don't handle - i've been bitten by three of them already ... and have no intention of repeating the expereince !!
The one on the classifieds is Bruce's brother and about a foot longer ... in the flesh its an awesome animal and the tamest monitor that I have come across .. if I had the space then it would join my collection (if it doesn't sell it will join my breeding project!!!).
Hopefully I'll have some babies for sale in the near future. |
