I spent this evening in the rhaco shed tonight (after a little late afternoon siesta ), thought I'd check out what I would be taking to Bras this Saturday (sorry Jo, forgot to take pics).
Anyway I went through all the nest boxes, half thinking there wouldn't be many eggs now as they seemed to of slowed right down with laying but I was amazed to find 38 eggs (mix of Cresties and Gargoyles), plus we also had about 20 hatch in the last 3 days.
Not got too many eggs incubating, plus I am planning on keeping back most of what I produce this year but I should have a good selection of cresteds and gargoyles ready for the show but doubt I'll have many for the following shows
I also noticed that some of the best looking eggs were laid in DRY (dust dry!) nest boxes. The lack of humidity hadn't affected them at all. In fact most of my 'duff' eggs have always come from nest boxes that are on the wetter side. _________________
