hi
corn snake followed by western hognose.
with a corn handle it to make sure it is calm and not biting. usually they are very tame but you get the odd bad one.
with hognoses they always pretend to be dangerous but never bite unless you smell like food.

I'd recommend a corn snake, they come in so many beautiful colours, are fairly docile and are pretty easy to keep. They grow between 3-6 ft in length, so a 3ft viv would suit an adult np.
I have a baby carolina ( aka normal ) corn snake who is very friendly and has been since the day i got her. You can get some babies that are a little stroppy but that usually passes with time and frequent handling. Smile

slightly venomous , if they are, its only if they chew on you for a while,
my mate had one and was chewed for a while and nothing happened.
A lot of people think they get there poison from the food they eat in the wild.
they are 100% safe to keep and totally harmless(legless as well)

just make sure eating defrost.

brilliant snakes after corns

I would opt for a Rosy Boa. They are small - you could have a pair in the size viv mentioned - gentle and very beautiful. OK so I am biased, I have three of them, but then I also have hoggies and corns. All are nice, but Rosies are best.

hi hog noses are rear fanged so can bite they do chew but if they bite its hard to stop them chewing i got bit by a baby and finger swelled up like a balloon for 24hours very odd dont take this the wrong way as they get very tame and usually bluff rather than bite Smile

A corn snake is the ideal first snake, can't fault them other than they are fast. Very Happy

Totally agree corn snake is probably best. They get to nice nice size but are easy to handle. Usually no problems feeding and great temperament. And yes they can be fast lol
