Sorry to hear your still struggling mate..but I really think its you rather than the lens..shooting birds is bloody hard and takes a lot of practice..try the lens on a tripod and take som static shots..this will rule out the lens being faulty... _________________

getting way to technical for me..lol...rattle off some shots indoors of something and rest the camera on a table..try an ornament or piece of jewellry etc and see what happens.. _________________

That is awfull...what distance away were you?..the 50mm minimum focus is about 3ft..so guessing you were not any closer? _________________
