Or is there a way to turn a T8 power pack into a T5?

Not really as the ballast will be the wrong size as well as the end caps, this is the sort of light fitting you would need for that lamp, dont know if the prices are good just wanted to show you the picture.

As for the other lamp you just put up dont think that will be much good for plants, the 300 number on the end of the lamp is its colour and i think 300 is warm white so not too bright but if they do it in 385 then that would be tri-phosphorus and alot brighter simulating daylight.

It's cool white Wink and will be fine for plants with a decent reflector it wont make then grow crazy but will be sufficient to keep them alive and doing OK depending on how deep the vivarium is.

Right here's the thing I am building this shelf unit and it will house 4 exo terras. 30x30x30. Ignore the sizes as I think it will be 37cm now.

That last tube I found which is 30cm long would be good. But I would like to know how to power it. Could I get 2 lights going off one power pack? I'm rubbish at this. All 4 will have reflectors too.

you started another thread didn't you, wanting to know the overall lengths of the exo terras. I would say leave quite a gap between each one for some ventilation maybe 4 or 5 inches.

you could link them (some florrecents are linkable check the link jas put)

the lights come in complete units that link together then you can wire them into a a plug. for that short depths 1 light with a good reflector will be fine.

http://www.lightbulbs-direct.com/variant_detail.asp?var=3539

thats probably gonne be your best bet.

your need 4 lamps
3 connectors/linkers
and one power cord

I'm not sure how long the link lines are but I dont think they will stretch that far, another way of doing it is to have 2 loamps on each (will give alot more light twice as much infact Laughing ) link those together and run cables to a junction box and then to an outlet this is what I have done.

whats going in theses 30 cubes? like what kind of plants? and animals..

Well 3 of them will be reserved for my crested breeding. So I have tanks to raise them in. These will have quite a few plants in. And then the bottom one will probably be a couple of emperor scorpions which will have an ivy in it perhaps.

well either way your gonna have to wire them into a junction box the link lines wont reach that far if they are all standard lenght I just looked at mine and they reall aren't that long.

2 8 watt T8's wont produce that much heat so go with 2 on each spaced out Smile

I won't need a junction box though as the link cables are 50cm. This is easily enough as the lights will only be about 35cm apart. Thanks I think I'm sorted now.
