I've seen one where someone put a snake next to 2 live rabbits which were purposely put there (Food was put on the floor in the house) and then filmed the snake until it pounced. I saw somewhere in the comments about the video the 'director' saying something along the lines of "Listen to the rabbit squeel, isn't it funny" They then followed it up with a 'sequel'.

Like has been said by others, I'm not all 'Animal Rights' but I hate to see it when something suffers for so long and is in so much pain. And it's not normally where something gets to the point where I can't watch something, and I was very close to having to turn that off, if not (It was a while ago I watched it), I did turn it off before the end.

I also saw one where some American's had put a live goat in front of a snake and laughed and made comments while the goat was being slowly, painfuly killed.

I dont think it makes any difference what species it is to be honest. I'm not saying that live feeding is always wrong because i know from personal experience that there are times when it is nessesary. What I am opposed to is the fact that the individuals posting these videos have such scant regard for the lives they are killing unnecessarily.

if people like that have such low regard for the animals the are feeding to their snakes it makes me worry how they treat their pets

Si it is a seperation and snobbery approach, they are food animals they are not pets. Pets are seen as better than food animals by some and therefore entitled to better treatment. I'll use huamns as the example, in Hinduism (?) the cow is sacred and should not be killed it is an abhorance to do so yet in most others it is a valid food animal and if you have seen how some are kept and treated before they hit your plate, to us cats and dogs are pets to others they are a food animal yet we find this somewhat unacceptable. It is easy to seperate food from animal in the thought process and this can lead to a polarity in treatment.

Because most are US based where it is quite legal and does not have the restriction on live feeding we have (it is legal but you can be prosecuted for it as said) they can effectively get away with it. I also think this is the mentality of youtube they leave them unless they recieve enough complaints. Maybe if enough people complained you would see them start to remove them. Personally I have not seen them being that veeiwing youtube videos requires a plugin I will not allow on my PC for that I am thankful.

Use YouTubes own rules and I quote:
Quote:
Don't Cross the Line

Here are some common-sense rules that will help you steer clear of trouble:
<snip>
* Don't post videos showing dangerous or illegal acts, like animal abuse, drug abuse, or bomb making.
<snip>
* YouTube is not a shock site. Don't post gross-out videos of accidents, dead bodies and stuff like that. This includes war footage if it's intended to shock or disgust.

these are the two that should be used if people wish to complain about these vides and quoted in the complaint.

That's pretty much my views as well, I've yet to see a video that I did not think was made for the purpose of entertainment only. Some of the comments the vids attract are cringeworthy to the least as well, you have got to wonder about people that show such a serious lack of common sense that are allowed to keep large constrictors/monitor lizards etc.

Live feeding done in the correct manner and for the right reasons are neither cruel or unnecessary, however as everyone has noticed 99% of those posted on youtube are done purely for the sick entertainment value.

The 'It's natural' comment which most seem to reply to concerned viewers with just is completely illogical.

Since when did Burmese pythons find lab rats and domesticated white rabbits in the wild, while living in a wooden box filled with plastic?
