My bosc is now definatly 1 and a half years old at least, I class its birthday as 16th August.

He's always been a steady grower but he hasn't got past 33-34 inches. Sex is unknown and people seem to think he is small for his age, yet as he is just a bit off 3ft and i've read in an experience bosc keepers book that they grow until they are around 3 yrs old, I thought it was normal but I wanted to check with the more experienced bosc keepers.

His diet is 2 medium rats spaced through the week, 3 chicks, handful of GAL's, earthworms and whatever black cricks/morios/mealies etc that are left throughout the week from the other reptiles.

He weighed about 2.4kilo last time I got him weighed which would've been around a month ago or something. He missed alot of feeds last xmas which I put down to climate changes, he wouldn't eat on a regular basis for around 2 months of winter.

He was also in the pet shop for around 7 months before I got him and I know he would've been kept on an inadequate diet as i'm quite friendly with the owners but I've seen what they have fed other reptiles in their before. We recently got a BTS that had been fed on a waxie and 2 crickets a day.

Anyone got any input? Both attached pictures are from tonight. They dont show his size too well but there you go.

Edited by MJ please keep picture to a maximum of 600x600

well, my bosc is 2 years old and not more than 70-75 cm , so i wouldn't count him as a ''small'' bosc and he looks well fed. Smile

Ahh so he's bigger than yours then. If it helps, I think its very likely your bosc IS female if its that age and size. Crocdoc had a feeling mine was a female and I think that too now....

Mine was name Houdini after the escape artist, why she was named Houdini, well the name kinda says it Razz
Its not very fun to find out that your bosc has escaped and you search the entire house after her, and after 4 hours i found her in my Sub woofer Razz which was NOT plugged in phew Smile

She isn't that big really..

Mines escaped few times but its mainly because I got my viv in bits and the back isnt very securely tacked on, girls shouldnt do the DIY! Anyway every now and again he prises it off and escapes, never leaves the room though even i the doors wide open. He's started to open the glass now!
