Hi again! Beginner here. can someone please tell me how often I should weigh my royal python and how much weight he should be putting on over a week/month. He is 2 months old at present and eating well. i am feeding him on 1 fuzzie a week which I was advised to do from the shop I got him from.
Many thanks for any help!!,
Mandy! Smile

Nice to have someone new with a royal thats feeding.
Personaly I would feed every 3/4 days. If she refuses the odd one drop to 5 days, basically when young its good to feed them up. One day she will fast and if nice and fat you will not worry too much.
As for weight, so long as it is increasing each month then its fine. It can take 3 years for a female to become an adult. If it eats 10x 10 grm fuzies in a month I would think it would put at least 50grms in weight on, about half of what it eats probably more???? It it eats 4 x 10grm fuzzies then 20grm plus weight gain. Not science but i think I am close to what you could expect.

Thanks for the info. Nice to have advice. It is hard to know who is the experts as I keep getting different info from the reptile section in which I go him to here and articles. I find it a bit of a mind field but I want to do my best for him and yes, was very pleased that he is eating well.
If anyone has any other advice I would be very grateful to hear it!. Many Many Thanks, Mandy Very Happy

My '07 royal was 57grms when I got her 2months ago.
She lost 7grms within three weeks before she started eating.
She then gained 25grms after her first three feeds and is now 77grms. I am weighing her just before her feeds so I think I'm getting the best chance of gauging her weight gain!!!!!
She is eating one small mouse every 5 days.
I'm going to get her onto rat pups/small weaners when I order my next lot of food.
