Theres a new amphibain forum up and running-still in its early stages mind-but it is looking quite promising. http://www.myamphibia.co.uk/ One of its perks is an amphibian database for the members, where an annonymous list of stock owned by members of the forum is displayed. This list shows numbers of male, female and unsexed members of the species kept, as well as the number of keepers keeping them (and the number of keepers breeding them) It is hoped that this will lead to a more detailed database, where you will be able to see who owns what if that is wished by the owners (annonymity still acceptable) There are plans to possibly make it so you can only be seen by people who keep that species, or some similar system to facilitate wider spread breeding programs to maintain genetic diversity, while preventing breeders being inundated with pleas to be placed on offspring lists There are plans for audits on the number of offspring produced also, and the forum will be a good place for the exchanging of stock to improve bloodlines/set up new breeding groups around the country.
Besides the database (which is also still in the early stages yet looks very promising) there will also be a shop for dry goods avaialble at somepoint in the near future.
The site is always looking for new members to add to the caresheets, photogalleries and discussions on amphibians, so if you feel you ahve something to offer please sign up-it is afterall the members whihc make a forum.
Look forward to seeing you over there! Regards, Sam _________________ Interested in amphibians? Join us at Myamphibia for friendly banter, amazing pictures and great information. Make some amphibious friends today! |
