That's the best way to do it. They feed on snakes, so I think its silly to try and get it off its natural diet. _________________ ngiyakuthanda Sonvanger |

alot of snakes in captivity dont eat their natural diet though, if you can get them on rats I recon you should.
Very nice cobras though, I really do love cobras a bit out of my league yet though |

The biggest difference is that alot of the snakes that don't eat mammals in the wild will if the opportunity presents itself.
Arboreal vipers, for example, eat mice etc. in captivity but not in the wild, simply because its not often that a mouse climbs trees. Rinkhals's staple diet is frogs and toads, but will never pass up an opportunity to eat a rat etc.
King Cobras eat snakes. The plumpiest, juiciest rat in the world won't change its mind in the wild. Its not an opportunist at all. Its biology is not designed to take rats as a staple diet. Ophiophagus hannah means literally "snake eater".
Simply put, if you cannot afford to feed it, you really shouldn't be keeping it. _________________ ngiyakuthanda Sonvanger |
