Hi
One of my females has one mad feeding(I have recently used avipro)
030607 1 rat
050607 1 rat
080607 1 rat
090607 1 rat weight 1560grms
110607 1 rat
120607 1 rat
6 rats in 9 days
each rat is between 80 and 110 grms
Is this a royal feeding record?
Prior to this she was feeding just o.k.
Some people will think it is a bit much, but my outlook with royals is give em what they want till they start there next fast or breeding season starts again? I will offer her food every couple of days untill she refuses or she moves on.
views, ideas, etc appreciated

Yep I pretty much agree although I do always give them a few weeks rest every few months (ie don't feed them for 3 weeks). _________________

Whats the best method of using Avipro? In the water dish or soaking the animal? I'm trying it out today for the first time, I've added the recommended dose to the water bowl, when should I attempt a feeding?

hi
use avipro in the water as directed. the snake will drink it. Basically it works like a yoghurt pro-biotic, puts healthy bacteria in the stomach which stimulates the need/desire to feed.
please note if the snake is unhealthy or stressed due to incorrect conditions or too much handling, these issues need to be addressed aswell as giving the avipro.
It appears to make a difference, BUT more people trying it and giving results would be helpfull.

If you are sure everything is correct and the snakes are healthy and you have not handled them for a few days, then give it ago.
Let us now if it helps.
My experience is that my royals have increased feeding about 2/3 weeks after giving them some BUT they could have ate like mad anyhow.

Thanks for that Mike. One of my Royals has been a tricky feeder from the start... I knew he was when I got him, but he was the best looking one so had to have him! He's been assist fed a few times... but I'm reluctant to do this now as I'm aware that every time he see's a mouse from now on, he will associate it with the stress that comes with assist feeding! Its been nearly three months now since his last feed, he's lost no weight, still looks healthy and has just come out of a shed looking great! I keep him in a 9ltr really useful box, paper towel as substrate, temps correct both ends & controlled with a mat stat, water & hides ect, i'll give it a couple of days and try a feed and let you know how it goes. _________________ Graphic design genius (print & web)
