Last night when pouring some mini-crix (size 2 I think), there were some caterpillar looking worms (black, and furry - no rude comments plz.. Razz). They got into my Cresteds Viv and he launched and caught it straight away. I've read alot about worms eating from the inside out and I'm now panicking about it..

I've checked him / her out this morning and he was fine (sleeping, but I moved him just to check he was alive.. Smile

Am I just panicking, what are these little worms and will they harm my gecko?

Also, when he launched and missed a cricket he got stuck on some paper, but I eased him off it and then he ran about hunting all night like a maniac (keeping nat awake, cos he was jumping from branch to branch.,.. Laughing

I believe they are dermestid beetle larvae.

He will be fine Wink

There are different views on them (eg. they help clean up dead crickets, or they kill live ones and are a pest! - not sure which is true!), however when they turn into beetles, they are a right pain, flying everywhere. Plus, I haven't found one animal that will eat the beetles Laughing

I've recently started to find them in my cricket boxes as well, I wasn't sure if they would be good or bad for the lizards so if one got into the bag with the crickets to go in the cage, I take it out and throw it out the window just in case. Only recently have I started seeing them though.
