had a great trip to hamm last weekend. managed to pick up 0.2.2 rhacodactylus sarasinorum. only ones i saw there so i guess i was just lucky to get through the doors early. heres a photo of one of the sub adult females.
photos just don't do them justice. i have found the juveniles to be extremely fast but the larger two are quite reasonably well behaved. any one else out there working with this species and have any tips as to breeding them when they get older? i am also working with cresties gargoyles mossys and leachies but if anyone has any specific tips for this species be it in terms of care or breeding i would like to hear it. _________________ 61 and counting |

Wow thats gorg!
Hopefully you will get at least 1 male out of the juvies! are they unrelated?
they are looking nice and healthy, there are not too many of these about so it will be good when you start to breed them! _________________ Regards, Paul.

my ability to speak German is non existant and the guy i bought them off didnt speak great English either but as far as i could make out the two females are sisters and the two juveniles are related to each other but not the females.the markings on the juveniles are quite different as well.
cheers, will _________________ 61 and counting |

Hi,they are a great species but I have found extremely flighty.I keep mine on a diet of Cgd and the new two part mix with the odd dubia roach.I keep them in a larger Viv than the crested as the move about a lot at night. They mate readily but the females produce eggs when they feel like, even after a confirmed mating they may not lay that season. Not a very prolific species but rewarding to keep. The young are best kept in a exo terra I have found that the critter keepers are not good for this species, they can be out as you are opening the lid and chasing them around a room is very frustrating.Good luck with them nice to see a few more in the country.Dean |

Hi Dean,
Glad you're doing well with them, did the eggs hatch from the ones you got from me? _________________

Hi Scott,no all the eggs I had that year were infertile although mating was seen on many occasions,I have introduced a new male this season and he has been busy this week so time will tell.Dean |

Wow excellent find - I'm so jealous. Sarasins are on my wish list. Good luck with breeding them, from what I have read they can be tricky. _________________ Best wishes, Jackie
