Greetings varanid enthusiasts,

On behalf of the International Varanid Interest Group, we are excited to announce the official launch of Biawak, a new and upcoming international journal devoted entirely to the biology and captive husbandry of monitor lizards. Published quarterly (4 issues per annum), Biawak will be distributed electronically, free of charge to all enthusiasts.

Biawak will be publishing original articles, notes, and reviews concerning monitor lizards. We encourage the participation and submission of content from enthusiasts of all nations. As we await an ISSN, we have begun seeking submissions for our premier issue. A multitude of topics are accepted, including, but not limited to the following.

-Full-length Natural History Articles
-Full-length Captive Husbandry Articles
-Review Articles
-Brief Natural History Notes/Observations
-Brief Captive Husbandry Notes/Observations/Data
-Book Reviews
-English Translations of Articles Published in Other Languages
-Historical accounts and perspectives
-Veterinary Reports
-Innovative Techniques in Field Research or Captive Husbandry
-Bibliographies
-Commentaries/Opinionated Letters to the Editor
-Digests and Abstracts of Current Varanid Research and Recent Publications

The primary aim of Biawak is to create a collective literature base of varanid information accessible to varanid enthusiasts worldwide, for the sole purpose of progressing varanid biology and captive husbandry.

We are interested in hearing about any interesting observations, experiences, measurements, or data on either captive or wild monitor lizards. Please contact us if you are interested in contributing information or material to Biawak, or if you are interested in learning more about this upcoming publication. Our 'author's guidelines' is available upon request. Language assistance in German, Dutch, and French is available to those whose primary language is not English, and assistance with the preparation of manuscripts is also available to contributors.

Feel free to ask any questions about this upcoming journal; we will answer them here on this forum for all to see. Thank you very much for your time, we look forward to your participation.
