I would say 6x3x3 minimum,
if you already have a tegu and want a roughneck, why not make those two slightly bigger vivs and miss out the bosc? Laughing

A good rule of thumb for "MINIMUM" enclosure sizes is to have the width equal to the total length of the critter and the length twice that, So in the case of a Bosc with a potential of 4' you should have an 8x4x4 enclosure. You need the height so you can provide a deep dirt substrate to allow the animal to dig and burrow.

Hope this helps

Rick

Martin seen as you have had a bosc before I would have thought you had researched that before you got the other bosc you had.
I hope this time you are certain you wont be called away anywhere and have to rehome your animals again, i hope your settled well this time and ready to keep the bosc its entire life if you get one.
I also hope you have changed your attitude towards boscs as being a 'poor mans lizard' as it will need love and care the same as any other reptile regardless of its price.

All the best to you if you do decide to purchase another one.

LOL

Unless you breed your own food the weekly/fortnightly feed bill for a Bosc monitor can come close to what you paid for the animal if fed properly. They will consume mice and locust far quicker then you can provide, especially if its a young animal it will need to be fed every day as much as it can eat to support its growth and development.

Without a doubt V Exanthematicus is one of the cheapest and most readily available lizards to buy, but the up keep(housing, heating, food) can out weigh that within a short time.

Often annoys me on 'certain' forums (often American - it has to be said) where advice is given to get a cheap 20 dollar bosc rather than a 150 dollar ackie, because they're cheaper Rolling Eyes

its true i had to get rid of my bosc before i had a change in circumstances which ment i couldnt give him all the care he needed so id rather rehome him than him be neglected and end up ill or dead, whats bad in that?
about the poor mans lizard i didnt mean that i love boscs it was just a heat of the moment thing when she started another argument on another forum which she is very good at as you can see
tell me why you feel the need to make me look bad and that i cant look after my reptiles ,my reptiles are my pride and joy and i look after them very responsibly
i know all your doing is try to make your self look good and me bad,so why dont you grow up and stop causeing arguments

Martin, Im not having a go at you but, TBH you shouldnt even use "i had a change in circumstances" as a reason to get rid of an animal. There should always be a back up plan.

Also "puddlesplash" and yourself obviously have some history, can we keep it out of this forum?

the reason i had to rehome him i was joining the army and would be away all the time, my wife was to scared to look after him so i had no other ulternative but to rehome him
two months after id rehomed him i had to withdraw my application due to personal problems
now im settled in a new job i brought a tegu 5 months ago which i love to bits
so now i want to up my collection and go for a few monitors and my first is a bosc
i dont make rehomeing my animals a habit it was just something that had to be done at the time,i dont make impulsive buys i take alot of time in decideing whether a type of lizard is right for me there is plenty id love to have but havent got the room or the experience
if it was any other reason for rehomeing my bosc other than what ive said why would i want another, is there some reptile keeping rule that says if youve owned one before you cant have it again

i didnt want to bring any other problems that ive had with a certain person in to this forum !! since we had a disagrement ive kept all my opinions to my self in regards to her but she feels the need to start again
nice one
