They are great and amazing to watch eat, i was so gutted about losing my female coz even tho she was a grumpy mare she was my fav. I tend to leave them to themselves coz i dont think they appriciate being handled but they tolerate it if its a must.
I have a supply of bugdie eggs from my uncle who breeds them but if anyone has any finch/canary eggs spare im always willing to buy them off ppl whether they are fertile or not coz i suppliment them with biotin.
I do also have a tube ready as if they prove not to feed after a certain amount of time im gonna have to do it that way, not looking forward to that and hoping it wont come to it, coz they are so tiny, i dont think it really shows in the pics. _________________

thats coz there arent really many about hehe. Erm well the male of the species is tiny and i just keep him in one of those geo type tubs, my female i used to keep in an aboreal 2x2x2 tank and shel loved it was always climbing about and using the shelves. The main issue with these is their diet, as no everyone can get hold of the sizeeggs that are needed i guess im just lucky having an uncle who breeds budgies, and the other sizes arent so hard to get hold of. Both my adults were CF i believe, havent seen CB D.atra available before, not saying it hasnt been dont just that u dont really see them for sale.... its very doubtful that anyone will see these ones for sale unless the sexes work out against my favour _________________

do you know what small birds are the most prolific layers and how many would need to be kept to ensure a supply for a pair of these snakes? Quail? I heard if you are breeding them theyy only need to eat for half the year (the breeding season in the wild) before cooling. Dont know how true that is and am sure the snakes would be better off with regular feeds. _________________ Tom

yes you are right .... in fact my male decided not to eat over winter on his own without me lowering the hotspot ... however the ambient would have been down slightly. Keeping birds is not an option for me and since i have a source of budgie eggs im ok for now, my uncle has hundreds of them so he always keeps his infertile oens for me, i just need the size between budgie and japanese quail becuase i can get japanese quail eggs from the supermarket ..... the inbetween size is around the size of chinese quail which are easily available from ebay
but if anyone ever has spares im always happy to take them off tehir hands _________________
