Reverse Osmosis filter:
I am considering fitting a RO filter to a pumped misting system for my chameleons. The reason being to prevent inevitable clogging of the misting nozzles. The water in my area is extremely hard (wears Dm's ha ha). Also an RO filter will prevent spotting on the glass at the front of the vivs so no water stains will be visible.
Can anyone offer any advice on RO filters, or suggest any reasons why an RO filter should not be used for water that the chams will drink. Or, suggest a simpler method of reducing nozzle clogging. An in line filter placed in the delivery tube (6mm) would reduce some of the crap in the water but not eliminate it. Thanks. _________________ www.rickslivefood.co.uk

RO systems are the dogs
I used to use R/O water for misting but not for tads (sorry don't keep chams so can only speak for frogs)
basically R/O systems take out all chemical and mineral addatives to water thud leaving it pure, as far as I know Chams dont absorbe water through thier skin so I wouldnt see a problem with them drinking it as long as your'e supplementing them.
(excuse spelling mistake I have been down the pub) _________________ Paul

You could go for the cheaper (read pikey) option of a water filter (britta etc) or in your case, with the amount of animals in your possetion a hard lined waterfilter system would probably be your best bet and you have the advantage of being able to use it for your own consumption. |
