Hey all,
thought I would post a couple of pics of the baby Bothriechis schlegelii that were born at the end of 2006. These are at work but I still consider them mine Laughing Stunning little beasties I think you'll agree.

WoW Exclamation Exclamation

Absolutely stuning!

I love little arboreal vipers, they're the coolest Cool

How were they to get feeding?
Are they snappy?
How active are they?
Nocturnal or diurnal?

Can I have one Question Question Question Question

Your so lucky to work in a reptile house.

How many people get to have their hobby as a job?

Wow, I love eyelash vipers! We were toying with the idea of keeping them when I worked at the zoo. Am I right in thinking that it could be possible to keep them with Dendrobates sp.? Or am I thinking of something completely different? Smile Either way I would still very much like to keep them.

We kept the adults with D. auratus and C. trinitatus, never had any major issues. The adults never moved during the day but would cruise at night and find a new hunting spot for the next day. I was always amazed at how something banana yellow could hide so easily. The mother is almost pure yellow, some very faint patterning but the male was a nice orange and yellow. The babies are odd, the more orange they have the more irascible they seem to be, but the dad was a total softy, I always thought he had been dropped on his head as a kid if you know what I mean Smile

And yes, it's the best job in the world IMHO, sure beats manually masturbating small mammals for artificial insemination, but doesn't pay as well Smile

I looked into them when I first got my DWA. My dealer was promised 30 of them but the deal fell through Sad

Maybe another time.

I think the yellow eyelashs are probably THE most stunning looking venomous offered in the pet trade.

I have a list as long as my arm for little vipers, but the eyelashes are indeed nice. Prefer something a bit more challenging though.

Again, very beautiful snakes but I have to say (although not offered in the trade) that my all time fave hot is Stenophis citrinus
