Stunning I think about the only viper I like more than the gaboon is the rhinocerous, but I'm never going to keep either here in Aus. _________________ www.theherphouse.com & http://alleycatz.curvedspaces.com -our homes away from home! |

Little
I've had her since the 7th of January 2006.
Not very long at all. She's settling in nicely though _________________ You can't trust the snake......but you can always trust the snake to be a snake. |

Haven't given breeding venomous any serious thought, have only been keeping hots for 10 months.
Maybe, when I've gained more experiance _________________ You can't trust the snake......but you can always trust the snake to be a snake. |

Only got the one Gaboon mate and yes she is is calm.
I use long snake hooks to work with her and I never allow myself to become complacent.
Fastest strike in the world and acrobatic as well. They can easily strike back over their own body to nail you from behind!
The other night I had my face right up against the glass in the posisition you see her above.
She gave a little hiss and then struck at me so fast I didn't even have time to react. Thank god for glass!!
Gaboons can be agressive in the evenings so I only work with her during the day
Even then, I'm always on my guard. |
I have seen some really remarkable strikes from this species. They are truly one of the most insidious/wily species ever.. Looking totally calm, almost asleep one second. And the next.. Whammm..!!
They also have a abillity to calculate distance in the most nasty way.. _________________ *** Miqe ***

Stunning snakes, gaboons are gorgeous. Everyone in the hobby certainly seems to love them. Heres a picture I took the other day... _________________ Regards James Stroud |
