Hi all.

I was just wondering if you guys think Pastels are a good investment and how much you would expect to pay for them.

I currently have a pair of Het Pieds and a normal male and I am selling a lot of my collection to make room for the Ball Pythons.

I am able to aquire a pair of young Pastels for 1k and they do look very nice.

Do you guys think this would be a good investment?

Many Thanks

Gary

Pastels are great and if you're serious about breeding ball morphs you will need as many females as you can.

£1k for a pair is good but of course that all depends on quality and weights etc.

Funny enough I have some 2 package snakes available at the moment, 1.1 Graziani Pastels for a fraction cheaper than that price Wink

hi
you only need one male and some normal females. A percentage of any cluches will be pastel. the rest normal. I have seen a few nice males at about the £350-500 mark. When this years start hatching I would GUESS they will be even cheeper.
Best option is to buy snakes that you really like and if you produce and sell some then it is a bonus.
New question is will a poor looking pastel male have the same potentail to produce stunning pastels as a stunning male. If the answer is yes then if you pick one up for about £350 it could be looked upon as an investment.

hi
if what scott says is different to what I say, take no notice of me, he is a lot more experienced in these things.

My Q is does the quality of the colours etc matter? from the breeding from them point of view?
Why do you need lots of females?

hi Mike, you're not wrong at all but if your looking at investing and trying to make a nice return, then you need to produce combos that are worth the extra money, that means you need pastel females, these generally improve almost every other morph out there.

If you just want to produce pastels, then yes buy just a male.

As for colour quality etc, generally the brighter and better the pastel the better the young will be, it will also depend on the female you breed it to, so a drab male breed to a nice normal female could still produce great looking pastels.

I personnally prefer to buy the best starting stock I can, cutting corners and taking chances isn't worth it for me when spending the sort of money needed on royal morphs. Overall you get what you pay for and there's not many short cuts to quality.
