Helloo

After a little bit of help regarding crestie sizes - is there a guide for what size they should roughly be by a certain age? I'm just worried that Spud isnt growing as fast as he should be..

And secondly, i offer Spud CGD and crickets. This week he's had about 8 or 9 crickets, all dusted with calcium........ Is this ok to do? I have never seen him at the food bowl eating the CGD whereas i have seen him at the water bowl plenty of times.
I'm worried that he's not getting all the nutrients he needs. Should i dust every cricket? Should I dust them with multi vits as well? Any other suggestions?
I offered babyfood a few times too but he seemed to show no interest...

Thanks in advance!
xx

Hi jo,

I would probably dust his crickets once a week or so ... With regards to the crested gecko diet you didnt say how much your giving him, i would as a rule only give him just enough to cover the bottom of a freshly washed bottle top cap, that way you will be able to see whats been eaten & whats not.....

Cheers james

Hey, thanks for the reply Smile

I was using a small half filled bottle top.. i have now tried using just enough to cover the bottom of the bottle top. It looked as if he might have eaten some but I'm not sure.. Confused lol

I will keep observing but if it doesnt look like he's eating it over the next week or so, what can i do to make it more appealing?

I have cut down to dusting crickets once a week now aswell. Smile
Should I offer wax and/or meal worms?

Also I weighed him the other day and he weighs about 6 grams n is now 4 n a half months old.. I last weighed him around xmas time n he weighed 4 grams then... Is this a decent weight for his age? I can't find any information about average weights for certain ages so if anyone could help me out i would really appreciate it!

Thanks!
Jo xx

does seem small but it sounds like everything is fine Jo, they all grow at different speeds etc plus diet will have an effect too.

I did notice a difference when I switched to the CGD, growth seemed better. Make sure you mix it up no thicker than water and perhaps try using the mix instead of water for a few days.

Hey Scott, thanks for the reply Smile

When I mix it so that its like liquid, all the powder seems to settle at the bottom quite quickly Confused Does that sound right?

Grr! I wish he'd just eat it to stop me worrying! lol

there will be particles that sink to the bottom but the mix should still look brownish, if that makes sense Laughing

I guess it's quite hard when you are feeding just one, it's easier for me as I make about 4 pints in one go and each cages gets a ceramic dish filled about 2cms deep with it...that's all eaten within a few hours Laughing

Shocked Shocked Shocked !!
Maybe I should try Spud on 4 pints at a time, haha! I bet he'd put on weight quicker then! Laughing ... or drown! Shocked

It must just be a few particles that are sinking - the bottle top is a dark colour so i just asumed that the mix was completely separating -d'oh! Mad

I checked the mix I had put in last nite n it looked like he's eaten some.. either that or he's trodden through it n left foot prints Rolling Eyes I shall try the thinner mix tonight n see how it goes!
Thanks Scott Smile
