Hi GJ.
Locust, crickets & rodents. occasionally hard boiled or scrambled egg, chicken, morio's. i am at present breeding roaches, which i will then use as staple. tried them couple of times & all my monitors love them( if you want to try them see Rickeeze, QUALITY roaches).

roaches, roaches, roaches!! (dubia) Allthough once in a while I buy a batch of crickets or locusts as well.

Mice only occasionally (only becoming a serious part of the diet during egg-season)

Works like a charm at hardly any costs!

Thanks all

I have been breeding lobster and dubia roaches since the beginning of October and using them as a staple diet for my eldest Ackie until now. I had started him off on brown crickets but after a few weeks he lost intrest. I thought id try him with lobsters which were taken readily at first, eventually he seem to loose interest in those aswell. He has fed eagerly on the dubia roaches until now, but once again he has lost interest in those too Rolling Eyes. I have been using dusted turkey mince sparingly which he seems to like, however i wanted the bulk of the diet to consist of whole prey invertebrates with the occasional small rodent once/twice weekly.

Has anybody else had this sort of problem? surely what im currently offering is enough of a variety to keep him intrested Confused

Anyways i will try him with locusts and see how that goes.

GJ, i have found this with all of the reptiles i have kept at one time or another. i think it's more to do with too much food too easily available. try leaving them for a day or two, i have found them to usually have a better feeding response after.

OK here's an idea:

Monday Egg and chips tuesday egg and chips wednesday egg and chips Thursday egg and chips friday egg and chips saturday egg and chips...

Boreing huh? try changing foods around not feeding the same insect/food stuff each and every feed.
