I made a moist hide for Spud, using a margarine tub with damp kitchen roll n a damp sock in it lol.. Is this ok to use? Confused What could I use instead?

The flora tub certainly adds to the vivs authentic forest look! Rolling Eyes Laughing

Thanx for reply Smile
I read somewhere that moss isn't good for young cresties coz they mite eat it? That's why I was avoiding it...... Confused
I do mist the viv a fair bit.. no need for the flora then? lol

Just thought there's nothing in the viv to retain the moisture really, mebe I'm being overly cautious..

I maybe wrong but I would say just keep up the regular misting...chances are it wouldn't use the hide anyhow..what substrate are you using?..

I have lost a few baby cresteds due to them getting moss tangled in their mouths.

For cresteds under 8 cm I use peat substrate, well compacted and moist. For any larger than that I use newspaper and a humid hide (damp vermiculite but kitchen roll etc would work just as well).

You could continue to use the damp peat substrate for adults too but for ease and egg locating I stick to newspaper.
