ok i need some help with ackies i have just aquired 1.1 young ackies about half grown and a female adult yellow ackie
but after trailing through many sites and care sheets i have been getting different advice when it comes to sexing some say they are easily sexable and some say that they turn from female to male
so which is it and how do you tell if they turn from female to male due to domince as the yellow has been housed on its own for some time does that mean it will have changed into a male |

they are easy to sex when adults / subadults. The sex is fixed by the time they hatch although dominance can make it look like they 'change sex' within a group.
Males have spurs at the base of their tails, very easy to see and feel. Pinch (gently) either side of the tail with your thumb and finger and pull you hand downwards, you should easily feel the males spurs digging into your fingers. _________________
