Ok i am currently planning 5 new tanks as follows

1 5ft * 1 *8inch
4 2ft*12*15

Not sure what i am gunna keep in them prob FBT's in top one then in bottom 4 (2fts) various newts but anyhow my question is one on lighting

How would you light these tanks i currently have a 5ft T5 compact unit over it from when i kept marine tanks on the racks and wondered if i should keep this unit and just change bulds to freshwater ones or do away with the unit (been offered £50 for it) and replace it.

I have a few questions on lighting should i do any of the following

Use same lighting and change bulbs
Replace with new lighting (will standard house bulds do he job? )
Not use direct lighting?...might wanbt to grow plants

Anyhow i am waffling basically its in a fish house and i need options available to me to light all tanks at once , many thanks

T5's really dont give out any heat just a good amount of light.. Unless ur planing on sitting the lights right on the top of the tanks it shouldnt be a problem.

The lights on amphibian housing are really for 2 things live plants and us.

Thank you, you've confirmed my idea - I'm intending to use a small t5 unit myself, freshwater for the plants.
